Translating a broad vision into a live event identity

Rise2gether’s Asian Women Summit brings together women across technology, business, and leadership. For the 2025 summit, the founder wanted the experience to feel professional, powerful, and elevated enough to represent accomplished women in tech.

Contribution

I led the creative direction from early ideation through production, while directing the team across digital, print, merchandise, and the live event environment.

From Keywords to Visual Direction

The founder began with a set of qualities rather than a defined visual style. I structured a rapid exploration process to make those ideas tangible enough to evaluate.

Build a summit that feels empowering, connected, celebratory, and boundary-breaking, while still feeling professional and credible to women in tech.

Bold Structure, Gradient Energy

The final system built on bold color blocks, then introduced gradients to add depth, energy, and a stronger sense of technology.

Designing for Brand, People, and Space

I used three principles to guide how the identity should behave across promotion, collaboration, and the live event.

01 Credible Enough to Share

Create a polished, editorial visual language that speakers and sponsors would feel confident representing publicly.

02 Distinctive, Not Generic Tech

Reference technology through light, energy, and contrast without relying on conventional corporate blue.

03 Designed to Leave the Screen

Build the identity for print, merchandise, photography, and physical space from the beginning.

One Direction, Multiple Touchpoints

Once the direction was selected, I turned it into a shared visual system that could support multiple designers and formats.

Core Identity

Defined the palette, typography, logo treatment, and master visual.

Color · Type · Graphic Language

Make It Scalable

Built templates, a brand guide, and reference boards across four creative workstreams.

Social · Print · Stage · Merchandise

Lead the Team

Directed a 10-person team, aligning visual decisions and production across deliverables.

Team direction · Reviews · Production coordination

Bringing the Identity Into the Physical World

The final challenge was translating the visual system across large stage elements, printed materials, merchandise, and the physical event environment.

Designing for the Camera

The founder wanted the stage to photograph well while keeping the speakers as the visual focus. I designed the space as a layered composition, using sponsor elements in the foreground, speakers in the middle ground, and three backdrop layers behind them.

Designing Color Across Screen and Print

The selected purple appeared noticeably cooler in CMYK, so I adjusted the print color while keeping the digital palette unchanged. Physical proofs helped the team evaluate the final result before production.

The visual system scaled from digital promotion into a 350+ attendee live event, staying consistent across stage, print, merchandise, and social content. The founder continued using the visual direction and logo for the following summit, extending the identity beyond a single event.
